Serious game ‘Who Helps?’

Serious game 'Who Helps?'
TanteLouise

TanteLouise is making herself strong

TanteLouise is committed to combating elder abuse, because elder abuse is more common than we think; about 1 in 20 elderly people have to deal with this. TanteLouise would like to tackle this problem and they are good at spotting it. They do need help with this. This will be done on the basis of the Serious Game ‘Who Helps?’ in the form of national publicity. ‘Publicity is the attention of the media whereby something is made known’. This has been developed to learn to detect elder abuse more quickly. The game is used as a learning tool for our own employees but can be used widely. This app has been compiled in a year’s time and should work for all organisations and target groups.

An event as part of a larger campaign

A conference was organised for the launch of the game. Healthcare institutions, among others, would be invited and there would also be a focus on schools. The target group was large, but a toolkit had been developed for each sub-target group. The game was brought to the attention of various organisations, which was also the goal of our design plan and invitation process. The event was the core of the campaign and it had to tell and show something with content and impact that the people and media want to talk about and share.

Social Justice Day

February 20, 2020 was Social Justice Day and the congress also took place on this day. A great time to organise the congress. Awareness about inequality, unemployment, social exclusion and poverty is raised on this day.

For publicity, VKOZ set up the communication strategy and event design, including content format, invitation process and toolkits. Patricia has written several beautiful interviews which would be bundled in a storybook.

Daughter of the king compete for the honor

Theater Tour of Municipality of Zuidplas was organised to connect the four villages that together form one municipality. VKOZ was asked by Hans Heesterbeek to arrange the production of this event, also known as the Koning Zuidplas Theater Tour. It is a large open-air spectacle including theatre, music and dance. The storyline of King Zuidplas: the king rules the municipality but is tired. He seeks succession and has his four daughters, princesses, compete for that honor. They may present themselves in all four villages.

An event that connects people

In each village, local associations were asked to provide a performance. Amateurs gave a professional performance in each village, which was part of the complete performance. Residents of other villages could also watch the performances on large video screens. The public could also ride a long in a special convertible bus.

A problem arises, because in the story the sisters get into a fight along the way. The Prince of Oud-Verlaat cannot solve this, so Bert van Leeuwen, EO presenter of the family dinner, comes to the rescue.

The Family Dinner

In Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, The Family Dinner took place at a long table in De Dorpsstraat. Shopkeepers in this street provided this closing dinner, which caused a party in the village. Bert van Leeuwen made up for the sisters’ quarrels in this way. The four villages have come closer together through this parade.

Mobike Rotterdam promotie

Mobike Rotterdam

Mobike Rotterdam
Mobike

Rotterdam first of Mobike in the Netherlands

Mobike, the world’s first and largest provider of shared bicycles, started a pilot in Rotterdam in November 2017. A phased approach was chosen, in which 150 bicycles were initially placed. The aim of the pilot was to intensively monitor the use of the high-tech bicycles, based on which the set-up could be tailored as much as possible to the wishes of users and other stakeholders in Rotterdam. Mobike has chosen Rotterdam because of the international and enterprising character of the city and the no-nonsense mentality. In addition, Mobike works well with the municipality and other stakeholders to take into account the different interests and local wishes.

Orange merchandise throughout the city

VKOZ was approached by Public Matters from The Hague, ‘a public affairs & lobbying consultancy specializing in the policy advocacy and strategic communication’. They were looking for a local partner to launch the Mobike bikes in Rotterdam and put us in touch with Mobike’s International Expension team from London, with whom we have worked. Because we still had an office in the middle of the Coolsingel at the time, this was the ideal place to start a promotion day, which took place on 23 December.

We had put together a promotion team through another company that rode through the city on Mobike shared bicycles. They handed out Christmas hats and other giveaways, such as coupons for 20 free rides to try out the Mobike bike.

Mobike goes viral with #MobikeSanta

We also went to work online to promote the shared bicycles: a #MobikeSanta promotion was running through social media, with which participants had a chance to win free bicycles for a year. The promotion also resulted in beautiful photos of Rotterdam! The team had a social media frame where everyone who got a present had their picture taken. By promoting Mobike both online and offline, we have ensured the largest possible reach. We did this mainly by having the promotion team distribute merchandise and make good use of communication to the people.

Mobike Santa

On social media, the hashtag #MobikeSanta went viral!

"Rotterdam. Make it Happen."
